First of all -- thank you for reading this email.
Thank you for giving to Beautiful Response. There is so much need in the world right now. Thank you for not tuning out! We thank God for you!
I wanted to share that on one of our recent weekly calls, William suggested that RUHU could cut the food budget or salaries because he knew that we were having a hard time making budget. In 2022, with extra post-covid Secondary and University school fees, we've sent out far more money than we've brought in. He, Patrick, Laura and I try to talk every Thursday and we have brought them up to speed on how Beautiful Response is behind in our giving this year. I have always been impressed with Patrick and William's keen awareness for the temperature of giving in the United States. During our conversation we discussed inflation and it's potential effects on giving. We also talked about how RUHU is no longer a fledgling organization with the same capacity to raise emergency money.
There was a desperation during our call that I hated hearing in Patrick and William's voice. But as soon as William suggested cutting food budgets or salaries for the hard working RUHU staff, I immediately said, "no, no. We are not doing that." I told them that we had to bring the need to our supporters and to the board of Beautiful Response before we consider slashing anything like food or salaries.
There is so much need in the world right now and our minds and hearts are flooded with one grief after another. I have had to remind myself often over the last couple of weeks that I am not capable of carrying the brokenness of the world alone. What I take some encouragement from is the reality that through Beautiful Response I can respond to the needs of the most vulnerable in particular areas where God has called me to respond.
As you consider how God is calling you to respond to the great need in the world, we hope that you consider your giving to Beautiful Response as a part of the way you are staying engaged with the needs of vulnerable people around the world. As costs rise, we need your ongoing support to meet the needs of the kids in Uganda. They truly depend on the group of people receiving this email to help meet their needs.
Again-thank you so much for being an incredible group of dedicated supporters. We're confident that salary and food budgets won't get slashed as God provides through this wonderful community.
Now, you may be wondering, "How can I help?" There are several ways!
